India
In 2007, I first visited India on a cultural trip to Aurangabad with the Royal Watercolour Society. This initial experience working alongside leading Indian artists and seeing the cultural sites of Aurangabad and the cave complexes of Ellora and Ajanta helped me to create works that embraced more detail pattern and colour.
Following that first cultural visit to Aurangabad in 2007, I have returned to India numerous times, painting extensively while traveling to cities and sites across the country. These subsequent trips have taken me to Mumbai, The Golden Triangle, Agra, (The Taj Mahal), Jaipur, Delhi, Fatehpur Sikri, Varanasi, Orchha, Khajuraho, Amritsar, Shimla, and Dharamsala, Leh and the Markha Valley. From these subsequent trips my use of exuberant colours and detail patterning have and continue to grow in my work. This page showcases this and is a selection of my Indian based work.
