Middle East Sketchbook & Journeys . Egypt . Jordan . Syria

My travels through Egypt, Jordan and Syria opened up a very different world of landscapes, architecture, ancient history and everyday life. I travelled through these countries drawing and painting wherever I could, using my sketchbooks to record the places and details that caught my eye.

From the temples and monuments of Egypt to the desert landscapes of Jordan and the historic cities and architecture of Syria, I was fascinated by the layers of history found within these places. Working directly from the subject allowed me to experience them slowly, through drawing, rather than simply passing through as a traveller.
